German photographer Rainer Steussloff has succesfully sued Facebook over stripping EXIF data from images automatically when uploading, arguing that it violated Germany's copywrite law. This happened back in February and has not been challenged by Facebook therefor the courts judgement that it did in fact violate the law is now condidered final.
As a result this case means that Facebook now has to alter it's upload mechanisms or face fines in Germany, - however this is Germany specific and whether it will effect other countries remains to be seen,
