1. Choose a picture to use on your mug. The picture will need to be in digital form to print off the computer. If you have a film camera photo, scan it into your computer.
Open the picture in a media manager. Crop the photo to focus in on the main object. Coffee mugs are small displays, so cutting off excess background is important. Keep shape in mind when cropping. Pictures begin as rectangles, but aren’t ideal for a coffee mug image. Add text or a caption.
.Resize the picture to fit your coffee mug. Print out a practice picture on plain printer paper to judge needed size adjustments. Consult your printer’s manual for resolution capabilities. Set your picture to maximum resolution.
Print your coffee mug image onto thewaterslide inkjet decal paper. If your coffee cup is coloured, you will need to use white decal paper. This provides a base coat so the image colours are vibrant. If your coffee mug is white, use clear decal paper. Save paper by printing more than one image at once.
Spray the image with fixative spray to prevent picture damage. After the decal paper has dried, cut the image from the paper.
Dip your trimmed coffee mug image into water until the corners begin to curl and peel. Remove the decal from the paper.
Apply the image to the coffee mug smoothly. Blot lightly with a soft rag. Allow it to dry.
