WHY ‘WOMEN BEHIND THE LENS’ ?
‘Women behind the lens’ is a special project that is very dear to my heart. It’s about bringing groups of women together to enable them to experience the joy of photography in an all-female environment and to fully experience and spark their creativity.
The only requirements that you need to be able to join us are that you're female and interested in photography. So whether you're British, Indian, 'straight', 'gay', black, white - or pink with purple spots for that matter - you're very welcome on one of my courses. Similarly i believe that photography should also be open to people with disabilities, so if you are interested contact me and i will strive to make one of my courses accessible for you - or 'tailor -make' a course if needs be.
Photography is still a very male orientated pursuit and as we all know men and women can often think, feel and act very differently. This can be difficult for women and some female friends have mentioned to me that a mixed environment can sometimes be intimidating and can put a ‘block’ in place that can curtail some of them in the full expression of their creativity.
WBTL is about creating an environment where this creativity can be completely released. Each workshop will of course have its own dynamics, but the aim is to create a mutually supportive experience where all the participants can truly experience the joy, fun, happiness and liberation that photography can bring.
At the same time, as the group leader I will be striving to give you the most positive learning experience that I can, developing new skills, or honing those that you already have, so that together we can create some wonderful photographs that capture the essence of the landscape and the emotions that particular landscape has evoked for you.
Alongside all this creative stuff WBTL will give you the sound techniques that you need in order to be able to make beautiful and stunning photographs.
Come and join me, enjoy the liberation of your creativity and the expansion of your photographic technique. Above all, come and have some fun!
(I also run 'mixed gender' workshops, so if you'd rather do one of those got to
